PAYING BY STERLING CASH IF YOU RESIDE OUTSIDE THE U.K.

If you reside outside the U.K. paying by cash has distinct advantages for some clients, particularly for those who require utmost confidentiality.  It's quick. It's Easy.  You don't need a bank account; despatch is immediate - there's no waiting for clearance and there's no trace of the sale through your personal accounts or on your card statement for any critical family or spouse to see**.  We will of course always provide full itemised printed documentation  / receipts with your orders for your own records however you choose to pay.  All you need do is calculate the total of your order - go into a bank or bureaux de change , purchase the total in sterling , then mail it to us.    For some people paying by cash is ideal - here's how to get the best from it:

Calculating your order is easy.  All prices are shown on our website in British Pounds.  Forget about your own currency for the moment.  Add up the prices in British Pounds from the website.  Postage: on some offers we clearly quote the U.K. price and another higher Overseas Price which includes the cost of sending the item to you by airmail.
If there is no Overseas Airmail Inclusive Price shown please add 15% to the U.K. price to cover airmail carriage to Europe and/or 25% extra to cover airmail carriage and packing if you live in the U.S. or anywhere else outside Continental Europe (30 years experience shows this to be a ubiquitous average - we will itemise postage to the penny and always credit any overcalculation).  Once you have the total of your goods including carriage then just pop along to your bank or bureaux de change and purchase the sterling cash. Then post it off to us along with your order.  Remember! never send coins (these can get trapped in the post office's mechanised handling machinery - send only notes to the next equivalent value).

It is best to use Special Delivery (new name for old Registered Post). If you choose to take the risk of sending currency through the normal post without registering  it  then please note the following:

  • Obscure the notes using dark / opaque paper or card.
  • DO NOT SEND COINS, even if well-wrapped, as lumpy envelopes could jam in the post office's mechanical sorting machines. Send only Notes.
  • Always put your return address on the back of your envelope.
  • Make sure that you confirm on your order form how many notes you have included  (e.g.. £5.00 x 2  = £10.00  total; 2 x  £20.00 =£40.00 total, etc)

Any overpayments will be credited to your account . For example. If  your order totals overall £9.99 - send £10.00  ( 1 x £10.00 note or 2 x £5.00 notes) .  The balance of   any overpayment will be credited to your account for future use. We account down to the last penny and have been in business for a quarter of a century but if you do not intend buying anything else from us in future then you can elect to have any overpayment returned to you, this is still far and away cheaper than paying for poundage on Postal/Money orders ;  so you are still quids in and have the flexibility of paying by  Sterling Pound Notes.

If sending cash you do not of course have to pay the Bank Transaction Fee, a saving of £1.00

Goods paid for by cash are despatched by return post.

Clients often send notes through the post and save considerably on poundage . Canny regulars know that after a few orders they've saved enough poundage to indemnify them from possible loss and thus are topside.   Loss in the post to us is extremely rare. Some regulars have paid by cash for years and never had a problem.    However, if you adopt this method you do so at your own risk.  If  unsure perhaps you should try a smaller order first until you get used to it?

* * Note that to preserve the confidentiality of those who do use a credit/debit card the entry on your statement will read simply:  'S.A. Mail-Order Leeds'
