Remember; It is still quite legal for anyone aged 16 years or over to buy or possess a magical knife / sword
In 1997 changes in the law in the U.K. relating to the purchase and carrying of 'offensive weapons' (ostensibly invoked to ban young tear-aways carrying chivs) have imposed ludicrous restrictions upon legitimate businesses which sell edged implements. Historically, ceremonial knives are a component part of MANY religions across the world and are particularly important and necessary in hermetic magic and paganism but are also valid in Sikhism and Ghurka beliefs etc. Unlike most other so-called occult suppliers, who appear to shy away from any risk or controversy , we are willing to go the extra mile to provide our clients with genuine and necessary implements to follow their beliefs. We also constantly resist the unnecessary continuous puritanical moral wave which seeks to deprive individuals of the freedom of expression. When Xism seeks to ban, restrict, censor, discredit or ridicule items or beliefs in order to press people into abandoning them in favour of conforming with Xist ideas it is absolutely necessary that freethinkers resist the rot . The best way of doing this is simply to exercise one's rights. Buy two knives instead of one, three instead of two, etc,. In response, unlike most soft-option suppliers who stopped selling knives we have increased our range for your delectation.
The vast majority of true seekers will not carry their ceremonial athame with them any old time; it is a sacred piece of equipment which will be locked away in their workbox and only brought out for ceremonial use - however there may be occasional times when a witch or magician may want to carry his/her magical knife. When travelling to meetings with their coven/group, on special ceremonial occasions at the main festivals, when giving lectures, teaching and/or when requiring to harvest charmed herbs/plants in the wild etc.. In these and other exceptional circumstances it is essential , to avoid possible prosecution for carrying an offensive weapon, that your magical knife or sword has a provenance and can be asserted to be of ceremonial and religious intent in both design and origination. That is; the knife was made for that purpose and that purpose only. If you modify the knife /sword by adding sigils or gemstones etc., then it will simply add more weight to its ceremonial / religious provenance. Registraton has the additional advantage that a provenance will increase the investment value of the knife / sword to collectors as time passes .
Therefore, to comply with these pernicious new laws, and to protect the future freedom of seekers to practice in the old ways, all knives, swords, bolines purchased from the S.A. must be 'registered'. A copy of this registration is kept here in Leeds for your later use and a copy is duly date stamped/sealed and sent back to you to confirm the provenance of your sacred knife. You may never ever need this legal protection, but if you do, then it will become priceless to you and is a strict condition of sale. The cost of this registration, to cover the considerable extra work imposed on us, is £5.00 per item as each knife, sword etc has to be registered with us separately. Please note that the registration form you fill in remains confidential in our files and is not forwarded to any authorities. It is used only to record and confirm the provenance of your athame / sword and your age entitlement. If future problems arise there is no charge for validation or copies of it.
The upshot of all this is that we take our responsibilities and professionalism seriously. When you buy from the Sorcerer's Apprentice your interests are being covered in many ways which you might not perceive and this assurance, which is not available when you buy ordinary knives from camping shops etc (nor most other occult suppliers!), is a priceless advantage which cannot be overestimated.
If you intend buying a knife / sword / boline or other edged item from our list please fill out the form below and add £5.00 to the total of your order to cover registration for each knife /sword you require.
Home Temple Kits / Spellkits: Home Temple Kits and Spell Kits which contain knives or / and swords do not require you to send £5.00 per sword or knife as the cost of registration has been included in the package deal price; BUT you will still need to register each sword / knife to comply with U.K. law. Simply fill out a form below for each sword or knife which is itemised in the description of the kit in our lists.
Overseas Clients: This registration rigmarole only applies to U.K. residents as overseas clients are of course covered by their own country's laws so need not register knives sent to them. However, if overseas clients do wish to register a knife or sword which they are purchasing from us (hint: a provenance like this will certainly increase its investment value to collectors as the years pass) then please fill out the form and send your £5.00 for each knife /sword ordered.
